Where Kenya's imports come from, for the ten years to 2024. 720 observations covering 58 countries and country groups, arranged in a region tree with 14 subtotals and a grand total.

Kenya's import bill grew 71.1 per cent over the decade, from KSh 1.58 trillion to KSh 2.71 trillion, and Asia supplied most of the increase. Asia went from KSh 986.5 billion to KSh 1.80 trillion, which is 62.4 per cent of imports rising to 66.7. Europe, America and Africa each grew more slowly than the total, so all three lost share.

China is the largest single source throughout, at 20.3 per cent of imports in 2015 and 21.3 in 2024. India is second in both years but its share fell from 16.0 per cent to 9.7. The sharpest change is the rest of the Middle East, which went from 6.5 per cent to 15.5, more than trebling in value: that is the fuel bill, and it matches the fuels and lubricants share in the economic-category table over the same years.

Two countries are printed twice on disjoint year ranges, and both are real. The United Kingdom appears under the European Union to 2019 and under the rest of western Europe from 2020, because it left the Union in February 2020. Somalia appears under the rest of Africa for 2015 to 2017 and under COMESA from 2018, which it joined in July 2018. Both splits are stated in the source's own footnotes.

Figures are in thousands of Kenya shillings, and the grand total matches the national import figure in Tables 6.3, 6.17 and 6.20 exactly in every year.
