imibare republishes public statistics it did not create. These terms say plainly what that means for you.
By downloading, copying, or using this project, and any associated content or data, you agree to these Terms of Use. As further explained below, imibare makes its projects available strictly on an as-is and as-available basis, without warranty of any kind, including without limitation the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
imibare's catalogue consists of purely factual information that has been made publicly available by national statistical institutions and other government bodies. imibare does not claim copyright in this data.
However, imibare does not make any representation as to whether those institutions may claim any rights in the data they have published. Each dataset page names its source and links to the original publication. If you have questions or concerns about the rights in a particular dataset, please reach out to the publishing institution directly.
Where a dataset page shows a licence, that records what imibare understands the publisher to state, not what imibare grants. Publishers differ: some set out an explicit Creative Commons grant covering their statistics, many publish without stating terms either way, and a few reserve rights. The source link on each dataset page is the authority.
Where a publisher affirmatively reserves rights, imibare does not republish. Silence is not refusal, and the catalogue does include sources that have stated nothing, labelled as such; nor is a bare copyright line in a footer, which appears on almost every site, including publishers that separately grant reuse. A stated prohibition is different, and it is honoured whether or not the underlying facts could be copyrighted.
The software that fetches, cleans and publishes this data, including the
imibare
Python package and this website, is imibare's own work and is released under the
MIT licence. That licence covers the code only. It says nothing about the data,
which imibare did not create.
imibare extracts data from published government sources and transforms it into machine-readable form. That process is tested, versioned and documented, and it is not infallible. Sources are revised, restated and occasionally published with errors, and extraction can introduce its own.
Do not treat imibare as authoritative. For any decision that matters, verify against the original publication, which every dataset page links to. imibare accepts no liability for any loss arising from use of this data.
Please cite both: the institution that produced the data, and imibare for the version you actually used. Every dataset page carries a ready-made citation in APA, BibTeX, Chicago and MLA, and a source line naming the producer, the publisher and the date the data was last updated.
Asking to be cited is not a copyright claim, and the two are independent. imibare claims no rights in the underlying facts, as set out above. What is citable is the work of finding, extracting, cleaning, versioning and documenting the data, and above all the specific version you analysed. Sources are revised, as the 2026 national accounts restatement shows, so a citation that names a version is what lets somebody reproduce your result rather than a later one.
Citing the source institution matters for a different reason: it is the ordinary courtesy of crediting where a number came from, and where that institution states terms, attribution may be a condition of them.
If you find an error, in the data or in how imibare has described it, please open an issue at github.com/imibare/imibare-issues. Errors that originate upstream are reported to the publishing institution and recorded on the dataset page rather than quietly corrected, so that what imibare publishes can always be traced back to what the source published.
These terms may change as the catalogue grows and as institutions clarify their own positions. Material changes are recorded in the changelog, and the date below always reflects the current version.
